Portland Adult Education is always looking for community members to help our students achieve their goals and dreams. We have students from more than seventy different countries working on English proficiency along with students born in the United States who are working to gain their high school diploma or GED/HiSET. Tutors work with students to reinforce reading and writing done in class and help students prepare for their citizenship test. Math tutors also are needed for individual instruction. In our computer lab, volunteers are needed to help students navigate English language programs.
Portland Adult Education has a great need for volunteers to assist as–
-
- Classroom assistants to work with PAE teachers.
- One-on-One Tutors with English Language Learners and students working towards their high school diploma or GED/HiSET.
If you are interested in volunteering, please complete theĀ PAE Volunteer Application and send it to Martha (Moey) Burchenal, Volunteer Coordinator, at burchm@portlandschools.org. She will schedule you for an interview and then check your references.
All PAE volunteers receive a parking permit (windshield cling) for their vehicle.
If you have any questions please call Moey at 207-874-8155.
